Recycling

wood recycling Garvey Demolition has always been conscious of their responsibility towards the environment gaining ISO 14001 : 2015 accreditation, Recycling to keep the on site costs down is another good reason in working towards reaching zero to landfill.

We currently recycle the following waste products:

  • Wood – All Timber is 100% recycled and turned into new sheets of MDF sheet board, Chipboard or processed further and made into fuel for electricity generation.
  • Metal – All metal is 100% recycled, processing and separation takes place on site to minimize transport/sorting costs, the recycled steel is used in numerous applications, especially the car industry
  • Plasterboard – A newly identified recyclable material, and recently reclassified as a material not accepted at land fill,  Garvey demolition recycle 100% of waste plasterboard.  The plasterboard is processed and makes new plasterboard sheets.
  • Concrete and brick – 100% recycled, whether it takes place on site or in our recycling facility, all hardcore is crushed and made into 6F2 grade recycled aggregate.   Saving the need for 100’s of lorry loads of waste going of site removing material and onto site bringing new material in, a massive saving on the environment and reduction in our carbon footprint.
  • Glass – 100% recycled and made into new glass items

Only a small percentage of our waste ends up going to landfill, this being a last resort for Garvey Demolition,  Although we are always looking into new technologies for recycling waste products and are currently looking at a system that shreds landfill waste, semi dries it, and then feeds it into a generator as a fuel source to produce electricity.  Our goal being to generate our own electricity to power our office and yard facilities and even feed the national grid.
