OHSAS18001

OHSAS18001 is a Health and Safety Management System developed to assist in the reduction and prevention of accidents and accident related loss of lives, equipment and time.  OHSAS18001:1999 was revised to OHSAS18001:2007 and with it came a number of significant changes to bring the standard in line with ISO14001:2004 and ISO9001:2008.

Certification to OHSAS18001 demonstrates our company’s commitment to a safer working environment and for the protection of employees against injury at work. Some of the benefits of OHSAS 18001 are:-

  • Support the organisation to identify regulatory requirements and helps to enforce procedures for compliance with legislation.
  • Better identification of hazards and risk management.
  • Involving all levels of the organisation through setting objectives, targets and documented responsibilities.
  • Overall better awareness of Health and Safety.
  • Promotion of teamwork through improved communication at all levels, with relevant business partners and third parties.

Certification should assist our organisations saving money and maintaining a good reputation. Regulators recognise OHSAS18001 as a commitment to safe working conditions and continuous improvement. Certification also provides a platform for attracting lower insurance premiums and proving due diligence to the marketplace.

ISO9001

ISO9001 is the recognised Quality Management System standard, and the preferred solution for organisations throughout the world for introducing controls within their businesses. Certification tells your clients and potential clients alike that you comply with this internationally recognised standard. This helps to build confidence, it demonstrates your commitment to quality and helps include your name to approved vendor lists.

Certification promotes continuous improvement, and during our continuous surveillance visits we will help to ensure you achieve this. ISO 9001 is an international benchmark

ISO14001

Environmental credibility is becoming an important factor in national competitiveness.

Implementation of ISO14001 and/or EMAS requirements, which can be demonstrated by independent certification by IMS, will help your organisation to address the needs of a broad range of stakeholders and the evolving needs of society for preventing and controlling environmental impacts.  ISO14001:2004 integrates with ISO9001:2008 and OHSAS18001:2007 reducing the repeatitiveness of procedures.

Using ISO14001:2004 to its full potential can cut environmental related costs from within your business, thereby increase profits. The standard helps your organisation to view the business from a different perspective and consider waste reduction processes whether this be energy or product related.

Decreasing energy costs, lowering disposal costs and treatment of solid and hazardous waste are just some of the ways Garvey are able to save money and reduce the environmental impacts on our society whilst remaining legally compliant.
